When I read about the giant x2-Texas-sized blob of plastic garbage swirling in our ocean, I gagged, and swore I'd stop using plastic.
Sigh. I am not as brilliant as this amazing person. Tupperware and other plastic products still play a role here, but at least I have eliminated our use of plastic baggies, and hopefully I've chosen products that will last a few years.
When my boy was younger, and we often visited the park or beach, I fell in love Fit and Fresh coolers that snap directly into Tupperware. You can buy extra ice packs too, here.
For snacks, I decided to use Lunch Blox that are sturdy, stackable, deep, but compact. Perfect for small bento-style snacks.
You may notice snacks are labeled #1 and #3 - thanks dry erase marker! Where is #2 you ask? The lunch is hiding in the secret dual compartment. I don't label it #2 though (I leave it blank), because that just seems gross and inviting bathroom humor.
